This week celebrates the 20th anniversary of the invention of the 'World Wide Webb' by British scientist Sir Tim Berners-Lee.
Sir Tim is now a director of the 'World Wide Webb Consortium' and a Government adviser on the further development of the Webb.
He said recently: "The World-Wide Web (WWW) was developed to be a pool of human knowledge, and human culture, which would allow collaborators in remote sites to share their ideas and all aspects of a common project."
This may well be the case but I think most of us know the real reason for The Webb's existence
