Well its either this or go outside and take it out on the bunnies. Bang, bang, bang!
So here's the story. Went online and purchased a product key for Office 2010 but had a hell of a time trying to install the program, so much so I contacted MS online support who via remote assistance (they take remote control of your PC) succesfuly installed the program.
A little later following the installation I found my Windows Live Mail program wouldn't load and found that two .dll files had been corrupted.
Well, as I've never had a problem with the computer since I purchased it 6 months ago and never a problem with Live Mail until now, it doesn't take much to realise the recent installation process is the likely culprit.
Do Microsoft want to know, do they heck.
"The problem Sir is that we cannot give technical support for a program that is out side its warranty period".
So I explain yet again and again that the problem wasn't there before Microsoft got their remote hands on my PC and now I have a problem and again I get:
"The problem Sir is that we cannot give technical support for a program that is out side its warranty period".
Finally hang up, venting every expletive I know (including the ones I reserve for George when I meet him at Leicester.
I'm now looking for blood, preferably anyone associated with MS.
Does anyone know where Bill Gates lives!
My sympathys Roger. I'm having a few tech words with BT broadband help, nothing corrupted but can't get something they say I've got ! George is always blaming his Puter, so he might add something WHEN he wakes up.......
ReplyDeleteHi Chris. George wake up. You've got to be kidding. He's been in a dope induced coma since the seventies!
ReplyDeleteI had trouble all day yesterday because of MSN. And today I have the headache from hell. My few remaining brain cells are exhausted.
ReplyDeleteSome installed upates had caused 'connectivity problems' (this I found out when a helpful (yeah right!) message from Windows popped up about six hours into my problems. I found my own solution - I threw out their damned updated progam.
Well, Roger, you don't want to do that do you? (sounds like Whitehouse/Enfield sketch)!!
Personally, I detest 'Live mail'. It slows my pc down and very often freezes up altogher.
I have to open my hotmail in a separate window altogther - not just a separate tab. I then close it as soon as I've finished.
You have a BTInternet addresss don't you? Can you not use the BT site for your mail?(I can do that on my Virgin Broadband site), you should have a personal email section there.
If all else fails - ask a guy in your local 'puter shop for advice.
That's what I do.
Bill gates is currently in England on another stage of his worldwide charity missions.
He's promoting 'Save Our British Bunnies' in conjunction with the RSPCA and WWF.
Their slogan is, 'Dont Shoot A Bunny...Shoot an old git instead!'.
George, I use Live Mail as it has an infinite contacts facility.
ReplyDeleteUnlike you I have so many friends Hotmail can't cope with such a high volume of contacts.
I can understand why you use it though.
It can cope with the details of all seven of your friends.
Seriously though I find Live Mail to be good and I am using the BT site at the moment.
With BT-yahoo, I would like to be able to transfer between my email and Shirl's witout having to put the whole address and password, I find it tedious several times a day. pop-ups keep saying about "sending mail to outlook" but not how, or how don't work.
ReplyDeletetried to get BBC breakfast for yesterdays PCa bit but not available on i-player.
Heyyyyyyyyyyyy Rog...
ReplyDeleteYou're not up to speed. I now have only 6 friends!
