I'm so sorry to hear you think your dad is declining, but please remember.....he is a VERY STUBBORN guy...like someone else we knew. With luck this RT will give him the boost he needs - and once out of that hospice he might just rally round - in fact...I bet he does! Never lose faith.
John, your experience is typical of what we've all been victim of in hospitals. I've said this a million times - Don't trust anyone to ensure that your scans, appointments, referrals etc. have actually been arranged as promised.
The only guys who can make damn sure these things DO happen is ourselves. Check and double check everything that's supposed to have been set in motion. We can't afford to be messed around - it's our lives they're messing with.
Soooo sorry to hear about Ian, Elise, just remember we ARE ALL ruting here for him, your Mum and of course YOU.
iI'm just so thankful that mine was caught early, especially when you read about those on here and pcc forum.
Day trip to France tomorrow, raiding the DIY shops for what I know is cheaper there. [don't want wine, still got several boxes un-packed]so no posting from me.
Mapping done, RT now starting Friday for 5 sessions, lumbar spine and either side pelvis. MRI Brain also done. Doctor told mom this was at my request....actually, not true....and she added that they requested it 'just in case'. in my experience, they don't do these lightly, therefore, Brain mets must be their concern now too. dad is tired, emotional and very scared. Got flights booked home. For what I paid to go Cork - Heathrow, I could have had a week on a tropical island all to myself :-((
If so, ignore the so called art experts there........
ART INTERPRETATION??
A couple attending an art exhibition at the National Gallery were staring at a portrait that had them totally confused. The painting depicted three black men totally naked, sitting on a park bench.
Two of the men had black penises, but the one seated in the middle, had a pink penis.
The curator of the gallery realized the confused couple were having trouble with interpreting the painting and offered his assessment.
He went on and on for nearly half an hour explaining how it depicted the sexual emasculation of African-Americans in a predominantly white, patriarchal society.
"In fact", he pointed out, "some serious critics believe that the pink penis reflects the cultural and sociologicaloppression expressed by gay men in a contemporary society".
After the curator left, a Scotsman man approached the couple and said, "Would you like to know what the painting is really about?"
"Now why would you claim to be more of an expert than the curator of the Gallery?" asked the couple.
"Because I'm the guy who painted it," he replied. "In fact, there is no African-American representation at all. > > > > > >
They're just three Scottish coal-miners. The guy in the middle went home for lunch."
And, if heathrow is anything to go by, another fortune for just dropping off and picking up ! Elise, our thoughts, prayers and fingers crossed that you see some improvement when you get there.
Now let's all have good old sing song!
