Monday Monday...

Morning Bollockeers

Monday morning.....gray and dull here in The Rebel County. Unbelievable amounts of rain this weekend. Flood barriers swung into action at the river in town, and I was nearly marooned on the opposite side from work. However, levels dropped, and I was able to get into work....dammit !

What's the plan for today then ? I have the hairdresser here at 10am, apart from that, I am not doing a lot.

Have a good Monday people, and remember, only about 34 days to Christmas !

Quack Quack xx

  3. And its 16 days to the get-together in Euston Road.

So has Cork got flood barriers on either side of the river through town ?

Hope you get a good fillip with your hair being taken in hand !!!!! xxxx

  4. Thanks Chris xx 16 days, that's not long ! Mom coming with me. We are going to have the best part of 3 days and 2 nights in London, shopping, loads of coffee, eating out, maybe take in a show. Just let Mom de-stress for a couple of days. Look after her please until I get there on the Weds xx

Flood barrier is on the River Blackwater, a very famous Salmon fishing river here [in the town of Fermoy] The flood barrier was just completed earlier this year. Before, when the river flooded, the army came out, and would drive you across the flood to the other side. Don't know quite how this barrier is going to stop the flood, but will wait and see.......

  5. I had to look up where that river was, and we didn't get to see that area, we went along the south coast, Waterford to Cork Kerry , up to Galway and over to Dublin. (late 70's early 80's)

Will be sure to look out for Mum. I will get there as early as I can, subject to the buses. xxxx

You deleted the picture that didn't appear ? xx

ISN'T' LIFE FUN ON HERE?? lol

Dan? Did you travel up my way to the Farne Islands to see those seals? That's well worth a visit.

Elise? Could you download the vid of Cork through Youtube onto here....using the 'old embed code' option?

  8. My father in law was from Fermoy. We found a plaque a few weeks ago when clearing out nettes mums house awarded to
"Billy O'Callagahn for services to the emigrants from Fermoy"
I think he used to give most of his wages to the labourers who worked on MacAlpine sites when they were a bit short of cash.

  9. Yes, the Farnes are well worth a visit, (they were on countryfile a few weeks ago),and if you have a bit more time, then Alnwick gardens are worth a visit too.

I'm now trying to puzzle out who sang "Manic Monday" ?

Elise, we would love to come back to Eire some time, its on our wish list.... xx, 2012 is already planned and booked, so will have to think about 2013/2014. [there is nothing like forward planning]

  10. George xx found a small clip of the River Blackwater in flood a couple of years ago. This is the bridge that I cross every day to get to work xx

Keith xx That's really interesting. My husbands family [father side] are all from here, and go back hundreds of years - maybe the families knew each other ? Family counts for a lot here, even 2nd or 3rd cousins through marriage is still classed as 'family' A bit like being in the Mafia - once you are in there is no escape ! xx

This is a clip of Cork city in flood, from a couple of years ago, even one of the local hospitals was flooded out xx

here is a good clip of the town of fermoy, the park and the shops in town. This is where I do most of my shopping xx

  11. Those are amazing videos, Elise. WOW!

The flooding looked very much like Cockermouth in 2009....and Lynne and Colin know all about that!!

And Fermoy looks a beautiful place.

  12. Hi Guys xx Thanks xx Yes, now you can see why I enjoy living here. I live out in the country, about 12km North of Fermoy, but usually only takes about 20 mins to get there, and about 45 mins to Cork City.

I have booked me and Mom into The Norfolk Towers Hotel, Paddington for the get together. We are having 2 nights and the best part of 3 days in London together. I think she will enjoy it. I am looking forward to a break for a couple of days xx

One thought today, is that we're only one month to the shortest day ,so if it stays this mild then a bonus......

As for holidays.....Onco said not to plan later than three months when we do,but decided last February to book a cruise, which is happening next month .....With all the 'bad news' we have had this year,i did think at times being a T4 G9 have i mucked up,but cross fingers......we shall be away for Xmas & New Year

  20. Quote....
MS Azura is a cruise ship of the P&O Cruises fleet. The ship was built by Fincantieri at their shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. At 115,055 tonnes, Azura is the second largest of seven ships currently in service with P&O Cruises. She is also the sister ship of MS Ventura. She officially entered service with the company in April 2010 and was named by Darcey Bussell.[5]...

  22. Hi John,

That looks like an amazing liner, and you're set for one helluva good holiday.

As for your oncologist? Tell him to go stuff himself.
How many T4 guys have been told the same stuff and are still around to put two fingers up?
    BOLLOCKS to PCa!!

  23. Thanks guys......That onco (ex one) was the same one,who also said don't go to the States on holiday.....that i would only live a couple of months if treatment not effective at onset,& drafted me a letter, when i was contemplating an Oz trip 2 years ago, together with a median life span of 18 months .....No wonder people give up,long before there time is up,with that sort of encouragement....
Great ship i hear, but don't complain as there is a special place onboard near the engine room for complainers...
