Had a chat with Hilary again last night.
Big Guy is certainly turning the corner, and that is the best news yet.
They also have other help now [long over due in my opinion] however, Hilary is delighted, and it sounds like the CNS is ready to kick some ass !
I like Nurses that kick some ass.....that means they are a great Nurse !

ReplyDeleteSaw onco this morning, nothing to do YET, see him again in 8 months, with PSA test Jan and before him.
One thing he did say was that they do not now do TAXOTERE chemo treatment as they found it didn't work ! I suppose I'm proof it didn't.(but not fot his statistics) He didn't want any of my paperwork so lugged it home again.
Good luck to you all outhere who are still having treatment, my thoughts are with you.

ReplyDeleteOn another note, your Onco opinion is interesting. Tax' does work in about a third of all men. This is about the usual success rate with any chemo. Cabazitaxel is the newer Taxane, and does seem to be giving better odds. In USA, it is used a lot in combination with Abbey for very good results. However, UK and Europe frown on this, preferring the monotherapy approach [correct me if I am wrong here Rob xx] Best of luck, and nice to know that it will be 2012 before you see them again xx

You're correct Elise. U.K. is usually a monotherapy. Political , cost, or QOL I'm never sure. Certainly combination treatments can hit harder, but sometime more side effects...

Yessssssssss, I just have to add to Elise's update on Phil...He has really ASTOUNDED the medics - and Hilary is definitely on cloud nine.
ReplyDeleteIncidentally, I've just had to ring her back with the the TV schedule for the Italian Grand Prix tomorrow and Sunday - The Capn would be furious if she hadn't recorded them both for him. 12.10pm each day if yer at all interested.
Me? Noooooooo way. I've told Phil a 1000 times that I don't see the attraction in sitting in front of a screen listening to a swarm of very noisy wasps for two hours!!
What a great end to the week...and John's big birthday after midnight. WTG Bollockeers!!!
