Bugger Sunday.......

I am not having a good day Bollockeers.......Hence the title.....

Yesterday went well, the cake pressure is off for another couple of weeks.

The 'Pony' cake  was destroyed at Eilise's little party WAY more effect
ively than Hurricane Irene, and I am not back at 'Rura Penthe' until the ass end of next week :-)

So, why 'Bugger Sunday' ? Well, it isn't just raining here, it is torrential.

It reminds me of the rainy season in Africa when I was a kid. It is BUCKETTING down. In fact, I put a bucket out just to see how long it would take to fill up. A 10 litre bucket...standard, car washing, window washing, size bucket. I used the stop watch on my phone.....any guesses? I would be interested to know Guys, so have a go ! Answers later on.

So, a day of R 'n' R for lil' Duck today. I want to do NOTHING all day....what are the chances of THAT happening ?!

Have a 'Bugger of a Sunday' Bollockeers, and I will join you all again later !

Quack ! xx

PS :- Forgot to mention, that it is my birthday next, in the time line of the birthday season. So, what I need to ask is this.....

What cake will Lil' Duck have for her birthday ?

IT HAS TO BE CLEAN GEORGE !!!!

As the kids will be there, so, suggestions please people ! Thanking you all xx

  3. When and where were you in Africa? That's my home Continent!!

10 Litres? About ten minutes - unless you ;put it under the spout of the downpipe off the gutter:-)

  4. Evening Terry xx Keep guessing too !

We lived in Zambia in Central Africa, went to boarding school [George, you listening !? xx] way up in the North West Provence, bordering Zaire in the days of civil war there. Hair raising episodes at the school, which necessitated the local witch doctor stepping up to the plate and putting curses on any of the rebel soldiers that set foot on the school property. Dozens of others stories which are equally true and as fascinating. We were there from 1974-1981. Which part is 'home' for you ? xx

  5. Hi Elise,

Hoping for dry weather in Ireland!! This is what the clouds say:-

Visiting my son in Hong Kong during the rainy season about 2~years ago, now that WAS torrential rain.
However, after soaking , so humid that everything bone dry again 30 minutes later.
Your bucket questing, about 1~hour maybe???

Try to have a good Sunday, xx

  6. Morning Mike xx Am liking what the clouds are saying ! they are more accurate than the weathermen !

Again, way off in your guess, try again dude !

Hong Kong sounds like Africa. The heavens used to open, and you could see nothing. If we were caught out whilst driving, Dad had to pull over, as the windscreen wipers could never cope with the volume of water [MGB-GT in those days] Then, within minutes, sun was out, rain was gone, humidity back and waited for the next down pour. I always said I would LOVE to go back. However, hubby has a worse than most fear of flying, and wont even fly Cork-UK these days, so my chances are pretty slim ! xx

  7. Born in East London, South Africa, moved to Cape Town then Salsibury Rhodesia. Finished school there and did my nasho before moving to UK where I learned to speak proper English in the 'Pool at Beatles time - what a blast that was. Back to South Africa and shuttle between Cape Town and Durban before landing up in harare in Zimbabwe after Independence in 1981 and then onward and upward to Aus! Phew!!!

All of which just a tad ahead of your time, since I left school in 1957 at age 15!!

  8. Very interesting Terry xx Nice to know I can chat to someone who knows what its like there. Dad was a pilot for the Flying Doctor service in those days. We used to go on 'bush' trips with him in the school holidays. At the time we thought this was what all kids did. Now I realize just how lucky me and my sisters were xx Happy days xx

  9. Elise was at boarding school??
Now why doesn't that surprise me? LOL

I still go on bush trips. The trimming business is booming in the Grim North.
In fact the women are asking me to do 'group bookings' these days.
Gotta admit I don't much like their choice of venue.

Crawling on your hands and knees from seat to seat while they play bingo is not the most comfortable thing I've ever done, particularly when I've a rucksack filled with my tools and shampoo on my back.

And...the bingo caller keeps stopping his calls to ask 'What's that buzzing noise?'.

I have to wait till the interval before I can crawl back along the floor from bush to bush with my hand held blow-drier!

Here's a little something to have fun with...a good old 'time waster'

    TRY IT!!

  12. Elise, every word I typed was true. I am deeply hurt that you would doubt me!

Ask the patrons of The Gala Bingo Hall at Metrocentre, Gateshead.

In fact, phone the manager. He banned me for life yesterday night.

  15. Thinking about your rain, Elise, I have had a re-think, about 8 mins.

In the early 90's we were in Florida, and the rain came down, like it does most afternoons, but because of the heat and humidity the ground and our feet stayed dry, it seemed to evaporate before it hit the ground.

  16. Afters all from a very sunny & warm susSEX........ummmmm i would say 4 minutes Elise to fill 10 litres if bucketing (no pun intended) down.......

    ReplyDelete
  17. I dunno. We're all losing the plot.

Bev gave Ian Fruit Compost for breakfast, John thinks Elise could fill a 10 Litre bucket in 4 minutes????

And La Duck herself got dressed in a daze this morning:
    OMG!

Elise, you could have carried it off if perhaps you'd worn your pink T-shirt...

    Now who's a cocky monkey?
