ROGER'S BIRTHDAY

Start:     Oct 5, '11
ROGER'S BIRTHDAY

Friday: A salute (?) to Geordie Women

Good Morning All

A beautiful SUNNY day for most of us, it seems

After my trip down to Teesside yesterday

it struck me how 'refined' those ladies are in that part of the world, just 45 miles from Geordieland.

I am so used to 'macho' women that I'd forgotten what femininity & elegance was all about!

Here's your typical Geordie Lass on a good day:

Don't worry, lynn won't kill me for this....she ain't a Geordie! LMAO

EVE OF OUR DEAR PHIL'S FUNERAL

As today is the eve of our dear PHIL's funeral, i would like to say, myself, how much I am missing his blogs.

To those of us going tomorrow, see you there,  and for the rest of you think and pray for him at 11.30 UK time.

Chris.

PS I don't think much of your rain charts for the next few days, Elise,  and is the throat any better yet ?

Tuesday......No Titters For 'Deep Throat Duck'....

Good Morning !

For a minute there I thought that MULTIPLY was gonna be good to me......I should have known better eh ?

George xx Really must find a better group site for here !

Well, 'Deep Throat Duck' still has a throaty quack. In fact, off to the quacks for me today, as this is getting on for 3 weeks now, and I am seriously getting pi$$ed off with feeling constantly unwell........grrrrrrrrrr.........gonna cost a wing AND a beak for this one though !

Dull, dampish, gray kinda day so far for The Rebel County......Rock on Winter !

Speaking of which, Mike ? Any sign of the yellow snow shovel yet? Its just that we are being forecast for snow in October.

YES. Not impressed. SNOW in October ? Do me a favour !

Whatever you are upto today, make it a truly BAD one !

[Throaty Quack here !]

Goodbye To Phil

Today we say our goodbyes to Phil.

We miss you Big Guy xx
And just wish we never had to lose you xx

Bon Voyage Captain. Keep them all smiling in heaven and enjoy the Malts xx

We will always remember you xx

Life is not a journey to the grave
with the intention of arriving safely,
in a pretty well preserved body,
with pockets full of money.
But rather to skid in sideways,
totally used up, totally worn out,
totally spent, loudly screaming.....…
WOW, what a ride

Happy Birthday Ray !

Happy Birthday to Ray !

Hope you are still checking in. Wishing you a very Happy Birthday, from all the crazy gang !
xx

MONDAYS HERE AGAIN

Firstly let me say a

BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO NETTE  xxxx

Damp start here today, yellow thing is trying to come through.

How's the packing/cleaning going, Terry ?

Have a good day all.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR NETTE

I bet one

Lovely Lady

thinks

we've forgotten something......

Noooooo dear Nette...we were waiting for you to get back from that pub lunch!

About bloody time too!

WELCOME SHEZ

Let's have a huge big

HELLO

to

SHERRI

(SHEZ 17)

(Keeping an eye on us on behalf of her dad)

We'll do our best to be good at being bad, Shez...honestly.

Bugger Sunday.......

I am not having a good day Bollockeers.......Hence the title.....

Yesterday went well, the cake pressure is off for another couple of weeks.

The 'Pony' cake  was destroyed at Eilise's little party WAY more effect
ively than Hurricane Irene, and I am not back at 'Rura Penthe' until the ass end of next week :-)

So, why 'Bugger Sunday' ? Well, it isn't just raining here, it is torrential.

It reminds me of the rainy season in Africa when I was a kid. It is BUCKETTING down. In fact, I put a bucket out just to see how long it would take to fill up. A 10 litre bucket...standard, car washing, window washing, size bucket. I used the stop watch on my phone.....any guesses? I would be interested to know Guys, so have a go ! Answers later on.

So, a day of R 'n' R for lil' Duck today. I want to do NOTHING all day....what are the chances of THAT happening ?!

Have a 'Bugger of a Sunday' Bollockeers, and I will join you all again later !

Quack ! xx

PS :- Forgot to mention, that it is my birthday next, in the time line of the birthday season. So, what I need to ask is this.....

What cake will Lil' Duck have for her birthday ?

IT HAS TO BE CLEAN GEORGE !!!!

As the kids will be there, so, suggestions please people ! Thanking you all xx

BUSY WEEKEND DOWN UNDER

With 2 days, 5 hours, 38 minutes and 47 seconds to go to lift off, according to my iPad Countdown App I’ve a busy weekend dusting and polishing and vacuuming: cleaning the fridge shelves and chucking out old food.

I have tried to argue logically that this is something of a waste of time – well, apart from the old food. While Fleming discovered penicillin from leaving old stuff lying around, I’m not sure an old pizza slice covered in mould would have the same scientific value.

But all the cleaning??? By the time we get back in a month’s time the house will be dusty again but before then, or even after, if we’re shipwrecked in the Baltic, who’ll see it, who’ll be looking in the fridge?  Well, burglars might if the house is broken into while we’re away, but otherwise it would be our heirs and executors and to be quite frank, I’m not too fussed as to whether they think we’re untidy wretches.

But this logic will have no effect on She Who Must Be Obeyed.

You can follow our voyage on Travels With My Wife  if you're at all interested.

SATURDAYS HERE AGAIN

Well its saturday.

Those of you under the rain clouds, comiserations, the rest of us, enjoy the sunshine !!!!  (gloat, gloat)

Enjoy your weekend peoples, whatever you are doing.

Mojacar Cancer Support Group - Wall of Remembrance

The following link is from the Mojacar Cancer Support Site that Anita [oakesani] belongs to in Spain.

She has added Phil onto the remembrance wall, after discussing this with myself and George. We both felt this was only right and fitting for such a wonderful friend to be remembered forever in this way.

I would urge you all to look at this tribute that Anita wrote. It is absolutely beautiful, and so true of our beloved Captain.

Rest in peace Big Guy xx You will ALWAYS be remembered by us all xx

IF YOU CAN'T LAUGH, YOU CRY

George,

That tribute to Phil is tremendous. The photos of a man who was so obviously happy and vibrant will I am sure be a great consolation to his friends and family once they get over the shock of his parting.

Although I never met Phil, I have a feeling he might have liked this pic - and I'm sure he would have been of the opinion that even in our sadness a bit of a laugh is not out of place as we chorus Bollocks-To-PCa. It may take some of us, but it can't wear us all down.

.....which of these children is a urologist of the future??

Our Phil Has Left Us

Dear Friends,

Phil passed away at 5.15 this morning.

Hilary has asked that I pass on her immense gratitude for all the support she and Phil have received from the Bollockeers.

This is the saddest day on this site since we started in 2006. Phil was a friend to us all, and to me he was the best friend I ever had.

I'll post more soon.

HOPE THE FORECASTS ARE BETTER UP YOUR END

Hope the forecasts for your weather, finances and PHIL are better than the Wiz!

We're cooking a but today with hot winds blowing down from the North - is the North always associated with hot gas? - but a cold front should come through tonight.

Here's hoping for good news about PHIL - we're thinking about him down here. Not sure that my devalued prayers are worth much, but on the basis that every little helps, I'm in!!

SUNNY SUNDAY

Good morning all,  good afternoon/evening down under.

Sunny sunday here so far.

Good luck to all those taking part in the great north run.

Heres hoping that our PHIL had a comfortable night

Take a look at yesterdays blog for a poingnant picture that George put on for me.

Good day to you all.

SATURDAY SUNNY

Morning all, evening down under.

No news on Phil yet.

Hope he had a good night.

Sunny and blustery here in Bedfordshire.

Chris.

Thursday, 15 September 2011

Do you folks up there ever get tired of these sunny days we have - as we do Down Here?

A guy sends an email to his mate with a note and an attached photo.

“Hey Bill, I have just been over to your place and had so much fun with your wife”.

“Have attached a photo for you to see”.

On checking the photo after pressing ‘send’ and got the shock of his life.

He quickly sent an apology email.

“Sorry Bill I had too much ZOOM on the photo”.

Have attached the WHOLE photo for you to see

“As I said, I had so much fun with your wife, feeding the baby chocolate cake”.

Sunny Thursday Down Under (Just for a change)

And talking about Down Under, just what is our Kylie doing to this lucky old bear?????

Hope there's good news about Phil when I get back later this arvo after lunch with my son in the City.

I often think how fortunate I have been to have these years in which I focussed on the really important aspects of life like this rather than working my backside off for some ungrateful corporation:-)

Latest Update on Phil

I had a quick chat with Hilary a short while ago. The news continues to be good Bollockeers :-)

1] Big Guy is comfortable, responding, and drinking [not Balvenie yet !]

2] The girls arrived, so now they are all together. That has to be a massive boost for them all.

3] Big Guy was seen by 2 different Doctors today. Both ordered various in depth blood tests and xrays to begin tomorrow.
The 2nd doctor was a lot more thorough, and in fact, could not believe that he was talking to the same man whose notes he had read previously.

Big Guy is defying all the odds here :-)

4] Hilary and the girls are heading home for a good and well deserved rest tonight.

If I hear anything further, I will post on here.

Please keep the prayers, positive energy, and messages going for Big Guy.

He is also very touched by all the radio requests that have been played for him, so please do keep that going too.

You are all the best, you truly are :-)

Wednesday: Hello

G'd Morning All,

No news - is good news I hope.

Soon after my last post here yesterday I had a call from Hilary asking me if I could get down to Middlesborough...of course I could - nothing would stop me.

I spent five hours with Phil and her atJames Cook Hospital.

The Capn is fighting like mad to overcome this latest setback. Although he was 'out of it' most of the afternoon, he was alert and gave me a big wave as I said 'bye for now at 5pm.

His condition remained the same at 9pm last night, and as I say...no news today - yet.

I passed on all your good wishes and prayers and I know it means a lot to him and to Hilary.

His daughters Sherri and Gemma were set to leave the USA at 1am this morning after cutting their holiday short to be with their dad.

It will take a lot to beat our Phil!

Onwards and upwards Capn!

Tuesday: Phil

Dear All,

I can't believe this. Hilary has just rang me and said she's been called urgently to the hospital. A friend is driving her there now.

Phil is suffering complications.

I'm shocked to the core..

He's been doing amazingly well and was very chirpy yesterday in all his messages to me.

Elise or myself will keep you all informed. Our prayers and healing vibes have never been more needed.

I'm going to be tied up with my own hospital appointment this morning, I was just about to leave when Hilary rang,

More later. Praying like mad for good news.

George

Tuesday - Turbulence Gone !

Good Morning Bollockeers !

How are we all today ? Survive all that wind ? [Morning George xx] It was a bit scary here on my hill. Very strong gusts, in fact, kids found it hard to be outside yesterday.

Calmer here today, and blue skies - Much better !

The news continues to be good from Big Guy xx Really making an astounding recovery, which is what we all want to hear !

Now, waiting for various assessments to take place. Am thinking the mobile armchair is a definite MUST for him !!

Hilary & the girls cannot thank you all enough for all the messages, song requests, thoughts and prayers that you have been sending. Keep it up Bollockeers, our beloved Captain ain't home yet !

Mom and Dad finally got back on line yesterday, after 13 days with no land line or internet. Some lovely people in the village decided to pinch all the cables. Approx £20,000 worth of cable was stolen. More than half the village had no phone or internet, this included the village shops, GP Surgery, Post Office, and about 2000 homes.

Why it took so long to get them back up and running again I have no idea. However, speaking to Dad last night was great. He is due a scan on 19th. I have been hassling the Onco for ages, as his pain is increasing. I think it is a Met on the spine, and am terrified it will lead to SCC. Anyway, scan sorted at last, and everything crossed that the problem will be sorted soon. Damm frustrating being all the way over here. However, maybe its fortunate, because if I was nearer home, I would have punched the Onco long before now !!

Have a good one people, and keep the thoughts, prayers, and positive energy up for Big Guy please

Thanking you all most 'duckly' xx

Out picking fruit this arvo

Thought I'd share with you mob this pick of my Gran with some of the delicious fruit we were picking this afternoon. So tasty.

As usual it's been a lovely day, but it's going to be so darn warm over the weekend - darn it, I'll miss the cooler weather. If only we had a climate like England. This sun is just too mach at times.

9/11

9/11

The pictures are iconic.

This was an event of mass destruction that was seen live across the world. Never before had such a tragedy unfolded before all of mankind.

We all know exactly where we were on that day 10 years ago, and exactly what we were doing.

What we didn't know, was who or where was next. It was a frightening time for us all, not just America.

It is only right that the world pays its respects. It is all we can do.
