Thursday....Chilling.

Good Afternoon People !

Chillaxing here in rural Oxfordshire, and soaking up some lovely rays !

Not much happening here today. Hoping that Chris and Shirley can call in for a cuppa later on, otherwise, that's about it.

Did a bit of 'networking' yesterday....
does that mean I am now playing with the
 "Big Boys" George ?!

Have a great day people !

  1. No Dairy products .......No Red Meat .....and now I’ve read this on the YANA site!!!
    THE DANGERS OF BREAD
In the 18th century, when virtually all bread was baked in the home, the average life expectancy was less than 50 years; infant mortality rates were unacceptably high; many women died in childbirth; and diseases such as typhoid, yellow fever, and influenza ravaged whole nations. Every piece of bread you eat brings you nearer to death. Bread is associated with all the major diseases of the body. For example, nearly all sick people have eaten bread. The effects are obviously cumulative:

99.9 percent of all people who die from cancer have eaten bread

99.7 percent of the people involved in air and auto accidents ate bread within 6 months preceding the accident

93.1 percent of juvenile delinquents came from homes where bread is served frequently
Evidence points to the long-term effects of bread eating: Of all the people born since 1839 who later dined on bread, there has been a 100% mortality rate.

Primitive tribal societies that have no bread exhibit a low incidence of cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, and osteoporosis.

More than 98 percent of convicted felons are bread users.
Anyone have a recipe for breadless sarnies?

  4. Here is another rare breed!!

If you can start the day without caffeine,

If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,

If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,

If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,

If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,

If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,

If you can conquer tension without medical help,

If you can relax without alcohol,

If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,

    ...Then You Are Probably .........

Don't know if is a better way but we booked a room via Booking.com this gives you an email confirmation and we also received a call from the MOS to check whether we were with the B2PCA group. Perhaps I will pack our tent in the car boot just in case!

  21. What I will be needing on the 26th August, after 56 miles of cycling, is a cold shower, a nurse similar to the above to deal with my aches and pains (then no doubt another cold shower)...

Considering the cheeky flash (pun intended) above, LMAO is very appropriate!

  22. Peter,
Holland & Barrett do quite a tasty non dairy cheese, you could use that with mayo between, or one I thought of at lunch would be a decent size lettuce leaf, usual fillings then another lettuce leaf.[don't squeeze too hard]

James, Where is the 56 miles going to be ?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thanks for the Holland & Barrett cheese info (I do miss cheese)

  24. We booked thro bookings.com and it still got screwed up. The receptionist told me they had no record of our booking,,,,,,,,whilst reading Annettes name from the sheet of paper in her hand!

  30. Glad you found it of use that's part of what the PCC forum is about is'nt it,collectively gathering information that we all can share.

Now I am stll undecided about BREAD!!!

    Peter

    ReplyDelete
  31. Peter,
About bread, Andy Gilbert, not on this site, says that commercial bread has all sorts of nasties we, as prostate sufferers, shouldn't eat, he gets his bread baked especially for him, we have been making our own, bread machine version, for years, that way you can avoid milk, butter and anything else you DON'T want. (if I can find out from him why, I will put it on this site in the future)

    Nite nite all.
    Chris.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Peter,
Further to my comments above, it is refined sugars and refined white flour to avoid, which most commercial breads contain.
Wholemeal flour and unrefined sugar is what to aim for. The "free from" range should be OK in most supermarkets.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Thanks Chris .....I only eat wholemeal bread anyway so halfway there!!

  34. Hi Exbus...

The 56 miles would be The Great Weston Bike Ride which is tomorrow, but not being recovered enough, I've put it back to the end of August.

    ReplyDelete
  35. James
GOOD luck that you are well enough for the end of August then, I haven't heard about "The Great Western Bike ride", which isn't suprising seeing we are in the East !

    Chris.

  36. Hi Chris

Been out cycling already, covering 20 miles so far, with the longest distance being 10 miles cycled. I've a new bike saddle which minimises pressure on the under carriage, using the sit bones to take the weight instead. Seems to do the trick as I've had no problems so far (apart from being shattered).

    Cheers.

  37. Just catching up......

Mayo is usually dairy base so I avoid.
Egg yolk no. Egg white is o.k.
I use a yeast-free bread where possible. Preferably rye or oat breads. But that's more for IBS than P.Ca. reasons.
Certainly packaged white bread is awful stuff full of bleach & other chemicals.
A breadmaker is a good idea. If you can get it to work for you. I just ended up with bricks suitable for housebuilding. Particularly with the sour-dough recipe unfortunately.Which is a better form of bread.
