Hi Folks,,,Just an update re my PSA since my chemo was deferred in April when my PSA was 12.9 and possibly something else to ponder,,,,,
Unfortunately 4 weeks later May 19th my PSA had jumped to 18.4 from 12.9...so chemo on the cards again,,,,HOWEVER,,I had seen an article in the Mail and on TV about a new Anti Oxidant Blueberry rich drink with additives being tested in Oz, that when given to mice with PCa had reduced theire tumours within the space of two weeks............................Tests on guys with advanced PCa such as myself, taking this drink had also brought down their PSAs with some great effect.
I tracked down the manufacturers in Sydney who gave me their supplier in UK,,I ordered half a dozen bottles that come in a wine size bottle and is diluted before taking and makes approx thirty measures.
One week after the 18.4 PSA reading and I presume still rising I started taking the not unpleasant drink as prescribed,,,,,
Four weeks after starting the potion my PSA had DROPPED to 15.9 after previously rising successively for six months.
Obviously encouraged I continued and had another PSA test three weeks later ready for my Onco appointment 20th July,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,DROPPED again in just three weeks to 15.0.
Overall PSA drop in 7 weeks since starting the brew 3.4..(Minimum, as I went a week beyond the 18.4 reading when my PSA was still rising before starting the Blueberry potion).......
My Onco apart from rolling his eyes when I mentioned"Reading the Mail article"etc and treating myself with it could not deny the results!
He grudgingly agreed that I should continue with the Anti Oxidant drink in conjunction with HIS daily Diethystilbestrol (AND George's Saw Palmetto and Soy Isoflavones!LOL)................
I believe without the intervention of my Sydney produced Bluberry anti oxidant brew I would already be on my second round of chemo.
I will be monitoring my PSA four weekly and unless there is a sudden upward surge do not have to see my Onco again for three months.
Food for thought maybe?,,I will keep you posted and be your guinea pig in this trial!!!LOL)
Cheers
Phil
Hi,
ReplyDeleteBeen looking on internet for a local supplier could you please let me have the suppliers name in the UK,
2 yrs after radical surgery and now a month into radiotherapy... worth giving this drink a try to lower the psa,
Cheers Brian and Margaret
Hi Phil,
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that something is working on the PSA.
Be careful tho, don't drink too much, someone wrote a song about this stuff a while ago called "Purple Rain" if you know what I mean. :)
Hope it mixes with Uncle Gordans' special brew.
LOL Keith,They seem to work ok together, the "Purple juice"does wonders for my PSA and the Gordons buggers up my liver!..Yin and Yang!!
ReplyDeletePhil, this is great news as many of us will at some time, have to face the possibility of Chemo.
ReplyDeleteWill you be putting your results on the PCC notice board?
Hi Mike, I contacted PCC when I started on the Blueberry potion, and they were aware of it and asked me to keep them informed over a twelve week period,,,so yes,,,,I have three weeks to go before my next PSA and fingers crossed if continued good results will be posting details..........I don't want to raise false hopes in people, but after over 8 years with PCa I do feel that if it works for me it just may for others too.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Hi Phil,
ReplyDeleteIt is so uplifting to read such good news here. I for one have all your details of the blueberry punch stored safely for the time I need to add something to my arsenal of cancer beaters,
The post from Brian and Margaret also proves we have friends who read the boards here often and every now and then will see something that grabs their attention.
You know, you're a pretty humble kinda guy, lol. You actually wondered whether or not to post your news!
I can tell you it is exactly the kind of story we need to boost our spirits.
Every one of us here lives daily with fear at the back of our minds, no matter how hard we try to keep a brave face.
Thanks Phil - FANTASTIC post!!!!
George
Hi phil, I hope the juice continues to work for you, we are in Sydney every week so might get Derek to try it, he does drink pomegranate juice but it is so hard to get here we find a supplier then they stop selling it, it seems it isn't very popular here.
ReplyDeleteJanet x
Thanks Janet xx,,
ReplyDeleteAs you live in the the place where it is produced I would get Derek to give it a go,,I stopped drinking my daily pomegranate juice when I went on to the Blueberry punch.
I Have the supplier details in Oz if you need them.
Cheers
Phil xx
Thanks phil if you could let me have the details that would be great

Hi phil just curious what did you pay for a bottle ,with the exchange rate its £16 a bottle is that cheaper than what you pay
ReplyDeleteJanet x
Hi Janet that is WAY cheaper,,,But I guess we have to pay for the shipping and import tax...
ReplyDeleteA great buy at that price.xx
Hi Phil,
ReplyDeleteYour news is great news, long may it continue, and just to echo George's post too, concerning the brave face etc. Will certainly see if there are any suppliers of it in the Philippines, may be cheaper to import from here. Thanks for your post mate.
Cheers Don,Hows things in Dumaguete City?
ReplyDeletePhil,
ReplyDeleteNot there at the moment! (Fairly flooded I'd imagine, my wife claims she's actually bought our kids 'wellies' for school, after the last few weeks of rain.) I'm in North East Thailand on a drilling rig near the Laos border, looking for oil & gas. This is my last hitch for my company, as I will be retiring in September, 22 years is long enough I think and 30 in the oilfield. I will be able to spend more time on the Bollax site then and hopefully contribute a bit more.
Cheers,
Don P.
Enjoy your well earned retirement Don and I look I forward to seeing more of you on Bollocks!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
