I am utterly saddened to have to tell you all that
the news on Alex is as bad as it can get.
Pat had told me yesterday that he was taken into the hospice on the morning.
Today Alex's children have been called to Lincoln, and Pat is staying the night with him. Things are very very serious.
Keith Cass, his close friend, rang me a short time ago to say that our get-together in Leicester was the main reason Alex had found the strength to carry on for so long. We all meant that much to him. He was absolutely determined to be with us.
I took this photo before I said goodbye to him on the Sunday morning.
I don't know what to say....except...this hurts.
