Good Morning/Evening Thursday Peeps,,,Just heading out to get a PSA check after last weeks showed an increase instead of a decrease after 4 cycles of chemo..
Elise no doubt will be on the phone as we speak to her Dad's Hospital after finding out last night that he'd attended for what the famil;y thought was an appontment to disuss a start date for his own chemo end of month and take in the consent forms and get info etc,,,,,,,
Turns out they hooked him up there and then with no Pre chemo bloods,,pumped him full of IV steroids and gave him his first dose of Taxotere,,,,,,,,,,,,needless to say Elise is beside herself and her poor Dad wonders what hit him!
Heads should roll!!!!
Catch ya later
Cheers
Good luck Phil, hope it's a winner! Yea Elise sounded mad this morning and I can understand why. I'd hate to be her Dad's Onco this morning. All the best mate.
ReplyDeleteCheers Dan,,Yep I agree,,Elise's Dad's Onco is not in for an easy morning!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Onco's a loose cannon,& staff also should have known better.....No excuses here......downright negligence...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHope all goes well Phil, & Dan.......good to hear from you too..Hope you like the humour.....Must start animations myself as George sent me a easy peezey guide (i don't think) lol ..john
The whole bloody saga is a DISGRACE.
ReplyDeleteI was so mad when I saw Elise's post on the PCC early today that I immediately tried to reply.
I don't know whether that PCC site is having problems, or my Firefox browser is causing the difficulties, but it has taken me hours to even post that reply.
Phil, GOOD LUCK with that PSA check.
Got my own result yesterday.....up yet again, so I rang my onco nurse, and she's getting scans arranged a.s.a.p.in order that my onco (AND ME! lol) have the results before the appointment in early February.
Hiya Guys
ReplyDeleteThanks for ALL YOUR MESSAGES on B2PCA and PCC. It definitely gave me the 'fire' I needed to brook no arguments - apologies to Mike there - So, in a nutshell here is the sequence of events today...
1] phoned CNS...not there, and no reply to my call as yet
2] Phoned Onco. secretary said he was out all day [pretty effing convenient] so I outlined my problem. She [qualified Secretary] stated that bloods were done yesterday morning, and this is acceptable.....Drug protocols missus? well, no answer there, except to give me yet another doctors name to contact....I didn't bother
3] Simon [artist] on PCC and I had a long chat last night, and he gave me some useful contact numbers, one of which was the Complaints person. so tried her.
4] up shot being that she MIGHT involve PALs once she had spoken to Onco and CNS as there would appear to have been 'a communication breakdown' no shit sherlock....BTW...its been happening for the last year ....go for it, as I am fed up of the same old crap. I also told her that I would view it as a professional courtesy if she would get involved, being as I am coming at this as a daughter AND fully qualified Nurse......followed up this with heavy duty email, cc to dad. She asked if dad knew I was phoning 'With his blessing' was my reply, so we will wait to hear from her.
5] Dad is feeling a lot better today thank goodness, as I was VERY worried last night about him.
So, will wait and see what happens. I couldn't have done it without ALL OF YOU IN MY CORNER, as much as I am in yours.
Anger gone, now I want action.......
Love and hugz to every one of you
xxxxx
Back at ya Sweetie,,Glad your Dad has rallied after his awful day yesterday!
ReplyDeleteHugs xxx
Hi Elise,
ReplyDeleteJust picked up on the events. What a shambles the system can be.
I've got a feeling they will try & fob you off with weak excuses, but the more complaints are made then surely improvements must follow. But I have my doubts there.
Anyway, good to see your Dad is feeling better.
Phil,
There is often a flare effect with chemo. I hope that is the case with you and the psa starts responding downwards soon.
George,
Sorry to see it's risen but I'd expect your scans to be fine.Looks like our next Onco pow-wows will be around the same time.
Cheers
Rob
Cheers Rob, :)
ReplyDeleteThank heavens you've been able to calm down now, Elise.
ReplyDeleteWhat a day for you, huh?
UP AND AT AT 'EM IS OUR MOTTO, Right?
Thanks for your encouragemant, Rob..I do hope my scans are OK. Pretty optimistic here (as usual).
By the way, today my pc was hit by a virus aimed at FIREFOX. I've read up on it, and it's spreading like wildfire, so keep your eye out for any changes if you use a Firefox browser.
Oh crap, thats all I need today George. WHAT SPECIFIC changes are you referring to BTW? I went back to firefox from google chrome as the upload speed was better.....
ReplyDeleteYes, a lot calmer, thanks George, and hoping to get to the bottom of all this. I have other irons in the fire, and Alan was very good in providing links on my thread on PCC regarding Guidelines for Doctors....maybe I should have sent that as a Xmas pressie to the Onco....or is that an EXTREMELY sacracstic thing to say ??!!
Rob - great to hear from you on B2PCA. Have updated my thread, and thanks again for your valued comments. You are a star ! xx
Great big XXXXXXX's to you all from me
Good luck with your tests Phil
