Hello and Good Morning
All you Good Peeps
Terry reminded me that tomorrow is
Mardi Gras in new Orleans
And...he's come up with a great suggestion
on how we can celebrate it here
WE CAN HAVE
MARDI BRAS TUESDAY
Get those body paints out girls, and let's see all your masterpieces posted here tomorrow.
Look out for some help in choosing your theme
(Coming up next!)
AND THERE'S EVEN MORE.........................
ReplyDeleteStunning pics, well done to the artists.
ReplyDeleteUnder Jane Plant's ideas, what flour can one use to make pancakes, using soya "milk" of course ?
Enjoy your day all.
I can't have pancakes anymore Chris....I've got to stay vegan - so no eggs for me.
ReplyDeleteWhat I miss most is my Yorkshire Puddings (and no...I'm not referring to our Yorkshire lasses on Mardi Bras day!) lol
Lynn uses organic wholemeal flour - or any good flour which says 'unbleached'.
Hope that helps - but you need a magnifying glass to read the labels!!
Why no eggs, George ??
ReplyDeleteSo wholemeal it shall be.
Talking about Jane Plant, has any one read Prof Robert Thomas's book, my and Andy Gilbert's onco, it contradicts some of J. P's ideas !!
Hi Chris,
ReplyDeleteI've had to go back to the 'Active Cancer' stage of the diet, as opposed to the 'Maintenance diet'.
It's much stricter, and I thrived during the first three years on it, before relaxing the regime a little.
I probably stayed on the maintenance diet too long, and should have returned to the first one last May when my PSA reached 21.
There's been a recent study from Harvard published, which reinforces the theory of staying off eggs etc. Here's the link
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21930800
PS. no, I haven't read that doctor's book, but I'll be looking it up.
ReplyDeleteGeorge,
ReplyDeleteShirley's J P Book says, the occasional egg, fish, chicken or prawn dish in the active cancer part, my Robert Thomas book, Lifestyle after Cancer, the facts has no mention of eggs, that I can see., J. P. Prostate book says, no more than 1 a day.
GOOD luck for the diet, like yesterdays blog "we will be watching you"
Thanks for your link, It amazes me how they can contradict each other.
Hi Chris, if it's the Plant Programme book Shirely has, on page 14 it has the various stages of the diet.
ReplyDeleteFor the active cancer programme it says don't have any single meal which tops 4 points (she has points on the various recipes), and on p.14 it gives a quick rundown of examples of meals and points.
Having any egg meal would push it to 8 or over.
Frankly, because I've been dairy-free for almost seven years, I hadn't bothered to read her book in ages.
However, when she saw my rising PSA, Jane strongly urged me to go completely vegan.
I have great faith in her judgement and knowledge......
So...I've been re-reading the damn thing! lol
George,
ReplyDeleteI am pretty close to a Vegan diet, but I do have a little chicken and fish.
Good restaurant's and airlines offer vegan meals as alternatives.
(British Airways vegan meals are particularly good).
Also some good vegan recipes and books are about.
The other major advantage for you George is that you will be able to take out your false teeth whilst eating!!
Mike
Noooooooooooo Mike!
ReplyDeleteI gave my false teeth to my pussy a few years ago.....her need was greater than mine, lol.
George, page 16 in ours, 5 points = dominantly veg + egg. SORRY, I didn't read the rest of that page, til now !!!! No higher than 4.
ReplyDeleteWe're new to her books, I've read both but keep going back because of Thomas.
Trying to make our own sprouting seeds !!
That is what REFERENCE books are for, to refer back !!
George, Them ducks is coming , if you can isolate them , via email !!
Heard of The Wicker Man?.....here's Vegan man
ReplyDeletepmsl
Good luck all on the vegan......I just keep red meat to a mim,cut out dairy,& actually prefer soya to milk.....went a bit overboard on recent holiday(no pun intended),but sensible eating now....
LMAO nice ones John!
ReplyDeleteWhere did you find that last one?????? I'm looking more like that as each day passes! pmsl
Charles 'Snuffy' Myers...
ReplyDeleteMyers major activities revolved around prostate cancer treatment and research. His laboratory research was focused on why a diet high in animal fat appears to foster progression in prostate cancer. His research group demonstrated that a fatty acid, arachidonic acid, common in meat, dairy products, and egg yolks promotes the survival and growth of human prostate cancer cells. They showed that arachidonic acid is converted to a hormone, 5-HETE, which appears to foster the spread of prostate cancer.
Spot on, Elise. I have the highest regard for old Snuffy Myers.
ReplyDeleteAnd also....another thought...that distinguished American Professor, T Colin Campell, who was a huge influence on Jane Plant's work, clearly proved that we DO NOT NEED a high protein diet.
His book 'the China Study' is my 'bible'.
Thanks for that ........Good to see the Early Bowel cancer Awareness advert on the telly........Hope to see same for PCa....
