Good Morning/Evening |Monday Peeps
Coo that was a hot and sticky night up ere',,Stilly claggy and set to be another hot one,,,No doubt La Duc' will be out crisping her skin along with the rest of us that can indulge in a loaf in the garden hammock today.
George's MIL will have joined them by now at the caravan at a location somewhere in my county,(Location witheld so as not to spread panic through the sheep fraternity),,,,they are still a bit edgy from his last visit!(Three ewes gave birth to quintuplets and a ram is still under therapy and on pussy tranquilisers.......Moggy-don!)
Enjoy da sun while you can back to normal tomorrow temps
Morning John....................................
Cheers
The Sailor's New Watch...................
A Sailor walks into a bar and takes a seat next to a very attractive woman. He gives her a quick glance then causally looks at his watch for a moment. The woman notices this and asks, "Is your date running late?" "No", he replies,"I just got this state-of the-art watch, and I was just testing it.." The intrigued woman says, "A state-of-the-art watch? What"s so special about it?" The sailor explains, "It uses alpha waves to talk to me telepathically." The lady says, "What"s it telling you now?" Well, it says you"re not wearing any panties." The woman giggles and replies "Well it must be broken because I am wearing panties!"
The Sailor smiles, taps his watch and says, "Damn thing"s an hour fast!"
Onco appt for dad in a couple of hours then home to my man. I've missed the old sod!!
ReplyDeletePhil, I'm going off you. Ever since you said about tying bow on it I have the song - do your bits hang low, can you tie them in a knot, can you tie them in a bow can you throw them over your shoulder like a continental soldier. Cheers my lovely!!!
John hope your powers of observation are as good today as yesterday.
xxx
Good Luick Bev,everything crossed for a good result, xx
ReplyDeleteMorning xx no sizzling duck today, more like wet and dripping duck....mmmmmm....should have stayed in Birmingham !! Mike, thanks for everything, it was a complete pleasure meeting you and Kath. Can't wait to catch up again next year !
ReplyDeleteBig Guy ? How you doing? xx John xx Have you recovered? I think I am in whisky withdrawl !!!! LMAO ! xx
This was Chris Boothby [Chris B] amazing ode for the MOS get together this year. Unfortunately, he was unable to make it, but it was read with great gusto by John [Bolton] and got a huge round of appalause [bigger than George's !!] I will put it into a permanaent document for here xx
ReplyDeleteTO MY FRIENDS AT THE MILL ON THE SOAR !
Sod Glyndebourne, Henley and Ascot
The ‘summer season’ – oh what a bore
The ‘ in’ place this year is with you lot
On the piss at the ‘Mill on the Soar’ !
What a shy and retiring little crew
We have gathered together today
I’ll lay a bet that the drink you consume
Will by far exceed your PSA !
I’m so sorry that we cannot join you
As you all get stuck into the beer
But please keep that invite wide open
We’d love to be with you next year !
The forum it is such a godsend
The expertise is amazing and great
Compassion, help, advice…and great fun
The jokes really are all first rate !
We are not always in agreement
And some exchanges are quite tense
But we all respect the honest views
And very few will take offense !
The more experienced amongst us know
There’s much wisdom to impart
Like never walk past a toilet
…. And never trust a fart !
There are so many fantastic people here
I’d like to mention all of you
But my creative limitations
Must restrict to just a few !
Karen and Barry (alias TopGun)
The happiest couple in the nation?
Toasting 23 years of wedded bliss
And their son’s first class graduation !
Now George was once a top musician
Or so he likes to yarn
He’s in that endless list of Geordie greats
…Knoefler…Sting…and Lindisfarne !
So when the buffet’s over
Best get some more beers in
It will help anaesthetize your eardrums
In case the bugger starts to sing !
Allister’s flown in from Majorca
After attending an ‘Iberian’ bash
( Well I presume he is sitting amongst you
And not held up by that volcanic ash) !
A special mention to the great Elise
Perhaps our most loved member yet
Our ‘Fleecy’ is a superstar
Our little Irish exocet !
A word of course to our mate Mark
Great wit and so urbane
If Spurs can show Mark’s Iron will
They will taste success again !
There’s our running man called Simon Lord
His username quite amiss
The only time he is an ‘Artist’
Is when he’s out there on the piss !
Daniel Sencier fights his local trust
It’s been Dan who’s shown the class
So Carlisle can take their litigation
And they can shove it up their arse !
We are all behind you fella
You’re the winner – they’re the loser
What a man …. and to top it all
… He used to run a boozer !
A toast is needed to ‘Old Al’
8 years on and doing fine
His secret is his lust for life
… And a bottle of fine red wine !
Now our group should have a theme tune
Something apt and not too silly
A song that’s apposite to all of us
Like..’The Sweet’ with ‘Little Willy’ !
It looks like it could get messy
With the boys all playing hard
So girls, if it gets too rowdy
Hit the shops with the credit card !
To paraphrase the great Bob Marley
It seems fitting for today
To remember the good friends we have had
And the ones we’ve lost along the way
A year ago a great man passed
Andy Ripley…pure gold dust
Dare we hope – we dare…Can we hope – we can
And should we hope ( of course) – we must.
You are all so inspirational
And there is one big ‘nailed on’ bet
With you lot fighting tooth and nail
We’ll beat this ******* yet !
What a GREAT weekend at the 'Mill on the Soar'
ReplyDeleteIt was fabulous meeting old friends and new. Biggest get together so far!
Everyone appeared to enjoy themselves. Got plenty of photo's which I will post later.
There was talk about having a 'duck' race in the lake next year!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Had to kill an hour on Sunday morning before taking Allister back to the airport so we went to the car boot sale taking place opposite the Mill.
By chance whilst walking around the show I was taking to Allister about Shovels (as you do) and was overheard by a guy wanting to buy two pallet loads! Exchanged details.
It made the weekend even more PERFECT!!!

ReplyDeleteLMAO !! John !! Dude !! I told you all that I liked Whisky !! There should have been no surprises there at all !! Was I drunk and staggerring about ..... I don't think so ! AND just to add insult to injury, I could have done more, but Mom and dad being there cramped my style a bit !! [I dont get hangovers, no matter how much I drink, I am a person you hate eh ?!] Next time I will bring a bottle with a straw !! xx

ReplyDeletebev
x
Big Guy ? You still with us ? xx
ReplyDeleteWork tomorrow people, reality strikes ! Nite all, catch you soon xx
ReplyDeleteA word of caution!!!! Judging by the rush to book for next year.... I don`t feel this venue is adequate for our ever increasing numbers. I think we should listen to the lady(Sorry can`t remember the name!) Who is herself an `Events organiser`( Not wishing to take anything away from George!
ReplyDeletebut I think she should be approached with a view to see what alternatives there are! After all business is business and I`m sure THe
Marriott or Holiday Inns etc etc are not big enough to ignore our party and I`m certain some kind of Special Discount could be obtained.
I was not happy with my accommodation at the M.O.S. I booked last Dec 2010 asking for a disabled friendly room near to all Hotel facilities. I phoned the M.O.S. last month to confirm my instructions had been followed. Only to be told" You`ve got what you ordered!"
"A room near the Hotel with a ramp to gain Wheelchair entry!" When they dropped the ramp there was a 3inch concrete step to negotiate
SO THE RAMP WAS COMPLETELY USELESS!!!! When I pointed this out on signing out today.... I was told "WE do NOT advertise as being Disabled Friendly!!!!!! I question whether the upstairs function room was entirely safe with the number of bodies we had there!
and the outside Patio area wsa an Accident waiting to happen!!!!! Ask Karen!
Having had a goods old "Victor Melgrew!" The Staff at the M.O.S. were excellent but if we don`t look at something else we won`t know what we`re missing out on!!!
Anyone who agrees with me? Their input would be greatly appreciated!!!
Alex & Pat
P.S. On SAT night someone parked a DIVING CLUB VAN across the entrance of my Ramp. I had to sit in the wheelchair in pouring....I mean
pourrrrrrring rain for 15 mins bef0ore the van was moved!!!!!!!!
Hi Phil
ReplyDeleteHope you are on the mend! Certainly missed seeing you and Hillary at the M.O.S. Sad day today at R.A.F. Waddo the NIMROD took it`s last flight after 37 years service. Can`t understand why the M.O.D. and War Office did not wait until a replacements was in service but
tht`s Milatary logic for you! Could n`t get any photo`s of the last take off as it was very dull and dingy weather today.
They`ve cut out all my Chemo SIDE Effects!) Zoladex implants and reduced Morphine fro 2 x30mg and I now have 20mg SRT twice per day So I am now running on batteries so I don`t know how long that `ll last!!!
Anyway take care and Best regards.
Alex & Pat P.S. Still on Mozita for the bones! A.M.
