Re Alex

I saw some of you were asking if anyone had heard from Alex,,I got this from him on Tuesday..............

HI Phil,

Thanks for your message.
I`m just relieved to me home again although I must say they looked after me like a King in
St. Barnabas Hospice Lincoln.....What a wonderful place! The  residents of Lincs are very
fortunate to have such a wonderful small Cancer Unit. It has only 11 beds and is funded entirely by Charitable donations. The Doctors and Nursing Staff talk with you NOT......AT YOU!and they cannot do enough to make sure you get the best of treatment.
My main problem is my body has rejected the prescribed H.T. Casodex and Zoladex no longer works! They are now trying Diehystilbestrol with Aspirin +  3 monthly Zoladex implants.
They have also commenced Zometa infusions( Had 2 so far) every 4 weeks.
My P.S.A. has shot up to 770 so things are not very good.
I was very disappointed last week when I saw the Oncologist... He said " Mr Munro today
I am going to start you on Zometa infusions!"       I said "You actually started me on Zometa
infusions four weeks ago and asked me to come today for my second infusion!"
He obviously had n`t even read my discharge notes from the Cancer Ward at Lincoln County Hospital.
What chance have we got when we are asked to place our life in the hands of Consultants and they cannot be bothered to read our notes.
At least I have found St. Barnabas and I`m so pleased that I have!
They have fitted me out with a new Walking frame to help me get about. They have also fitted various accessories  in my Bathroom and provided me with a Hospital type bed all fitted up for me to come home to.
I made friends with a guy on-line Keith Cass. He comes from Scunny originally but has lived in Cardiff for many years. He ran an Engineering Co  but sold out when diagnosed with P.Ca some 5 years ago. He had a bout 150 employees. Anyway Keith has joined the Chatline and has also booked to come to Leicester this year. He runs a website for PCa awareness in Wales
www.theredsock.co.uk or email keithcasstheredsock@hotmail.co.uk . Have a look He`s a great chap and is coming up to see me in the next couple of weeks.
So sorry to hear you`ve also been having problems....Have they sorted it out?   Hope so!
All the best to you, Hillary and your family.

Kindest regards,
Alex & Pat
xx

  1. Dear All,

I'm sorry to have to add to this post, but just a few minutes ago I had a text from Pat telling me that Alex has been taken into Lincoln County Hospital this morning.

I'll hear more later if Pat is able to,.

Let us all hope and pray that this is just one more setback that Alex can once more overcome.

    George

  7. Late Sat night:

No news yet, but I have just had a text from a good friend of Alex - unfortunately it was undecipherable. I asked him to re-send but the same thing happened, so I have left a message on this guy's answering machine.

    Fingers crossed, everyone.
