FAREWELL OLD AL

This morning I saw the shocking news about our dear 'Old Al'

I never thought we'd be mourning the loss of two of our members
on the same weekend.

Al passed away yesterday
SUNDAY 30th SEPTEMBER

Today I am speechless, and I think most of us will be.
I won't be alone in saying that Al was the one who gave me
hope and inspiration when I read his story
on the PCC after I was diagnosed in 2005.

I could go on and on about Al....but the only words I can think of are

LEGEND and HERO

REST IN PEACE OLD FRIEND

  1. Yes I agree, legend and hero. He saw so many set backs and still battled on regardless of PSA figures that some of us couldn't imagine, and in spite... of 'Old Al'... so young. I see medals given to people in the military who don't face half the challenges that some folk on here do. I'm so proud to be part of such an amazing bunch of pioneers.

  11. Don't know yet, Terry, but I have a feeling Roger will find out. He lives in Al's part of the country.

  12. I may have been one of the very few on either of the forums who met Al and those few hours I spent with him were enlightening and informative about a man who didn't know how to give up the myriad of battles he faced over the years and he most certainly had no intention of losing the war fate had so unkindly thrust him into.

My biggest regret is that I was never able to get him to join us at Leicester despite my many attempts at trying to cajole him, even with offers of lifts on the day but he must have had his reasons and whatever they were we must respect him for that,

He certainly inspired lots of people and too many he must have become a goal setter and in lots of ways, over the years he has done just that.

I'm convinced that many of our friends are still with us today because of the example he set!

RIP Al and my condolences to Beryl and the rest of his family.
